CHAPTER TWO:
					THE HANGOVER
					AND THE HUNT

When I woke up the next morning I had a bad hangover. My head was
pounding in pain. I felt nausea over taker me. I ran to the bathroom and
vomited in the commode.
After that, I went back to bed. My head was still aching as I fell
asleep.
Suddenly I woke up to someone pounding on my bedroom door. The door
slowly opened. I looked up to see my new partner Simean Taylor walk in.
Simean was a short man, but slightly taller than I. He has flame red
hair and blue eyes, he was balding on to even though he was a year
younger than I.
He looked down at me, his face held a stern expression. "You got drunk
last night didn't you?" I could only nod. "Your damn lucky that today is
your day off or the captain would have your ass in a sling," he said
crossing his arms.
"Thanks for the insight Sim. Now. What do you want?" I asked rudely.
"Captain has taken us off the vampire case," he told me.
The vampire case was a series of murders that left the c\victims
drained of all their blood. Naturally I wanted to be the one to solve
the case.
"What?! Why?!" I cried fully awake now.
"The Captain told me that he thinks that because of what happened to
David you are taking this case to personally and it's effecting your
work," he said grimly.
I closed my eyes in defeat. I knew he was right about everything. "So
what's our next case?" I asked.
"We don't have a next case because you have been put on a three week
vacation. Oh by the way here is you mail," he said as he threw the mail
on my bed. "Jenice? Can I ask you a question?"
	"Sure," I said quietly.
"What is the V.H.C. and why are you getting mail from them?"
"I don't know. An advertisement maybe?" I suggested innocently. "Look
partner. I really have a bad hangover and want no need to get some
rest."
"Ok. See you later," Sim said as he left.
I waited a few minutes, making sure he was gone before I opened my
mail. V.H.C stands for Vampire Hunters Council which I was apart of. I
opened the envelope, inside was the name description and location of my
next target. A man named Victor who lived in the poor part of town. He
was killing mortals irresponsibly and had to be stopped before he killed
anyone else.
If I was going to stop this murderous immortal, I had to get sober
before nightfall. I got out of bed and took a cold shower, hoping that
would wake me up. After the shower, I took three aspirins for my
headache and drank down a full pot of hot coffee. When I was somewhat
sober, I waited for nightfall to hunt this vampire down. It was only
fair to give him a fighting chance.
As the sun began to set, I began to get ready for the hunt. First I
got dressed, I wore all black. My dress was long and black with short
sleeves, my knee high boots hid a small knife. I also wore a long
leather jacket which conceals a heavy broad sword which I use to
decapitate vampires.
I dress like this because for some strange reason vampires are
attracted to mortals who pretend to be kindred.
I rode my motorcycle to an back ally in the warehouse district in the
poor part of town. I parked the bike and began to search for Victor. I
didn't have to pursue him because he found me. "So you're the Kindred
hunter that has so many of us afraid to feed at night."
"I don't care. Are you prepared to die?" I asked pulling my sword out
into plain view.
"What makes you think that I am going to die?" he asked, his fangs
bared.
"Because I am going to kill you!" I raised the sword before Victor was
ready, before he could block, I swung at him, and watched as his head
fell away from his shoulders. I smiled as I saw his blood on my sword
and wiped it clean on his shirt.
I stood there for a moment to watch his body decay and turn to ash.
"You wanted to kill me didn't you? Well to bad life sucks," I said.
I rode home on my bike happy to have rid the world of another soulless
creature of the night, making sure he would never kill again. I drove
home with this in mind, but my soul was far from being at peace.
